Legacy gifts aren’t just for the wealthy. Everyone can leave a legacy. By choosing to entrust your legacy to DeafBlind Ontario Services, you will help individuals who are deafblind benefit from your generosity in the future.
Gifts can include:
- Bequests: the most common type of deferred gift is the charitable bequest, in which you name DeafBlind Ontario Services as a beneficiary in your Will. Bequests may specify a certain sum of money or, if you prefer, you may give a particular asset or a portion of the residue of your estate after other obligations have been paid. Your estate will be entitled to a donation receipt for the full value of your gift, which may significantly reduce the tax payable with your final income tax return.
- Life Insurance: a gift of life insurance can fund a significant future gift to DeafBlind Ontario Services at a modest annual cost to you. Name DeafBlind Ontario Services as a beneficiary in an existing policy or work with us to purchase a new one. When you transfer ownership of the policy, you will receive a donation receipt for its fair market value and, if applicable, any premiums you may continue to pay in the future.
- Retirement Plan Assets: simply name DeafBlind Ontario Services as a beneficiary of your registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) or income fund (RRIF).
- Securities: gifts of publicly traded securities (stocks, bonds and mutual funds) can also be designated to DeafBlind Ontario Services in your will. No capital gains means a significant tax savings to your estate.
