For Communication Support Professional Srushti Bhatia, five years with DeafBlind Ontario Services has meant guiding the people she supports through essential daily routines. She supports morning routines, meal preparation, staying active, medical visits, and the unique passions that make each person shine.

A Personal Milestone 

While supporting an individual at one location, Srushti and her team discovered her “love for accessories, getting ready, and dressing up”. Srushti noticed her love for clip-on earrings, and after collaborating with her family, they took her to get her ears pierced. It was a “meaningful milestone” that allows her to express her personal style every day. 

Connecting with the Community 

For another individual Srushti supports, she learned that she “loves being social and participating in various activities.” After learning this information, Srushti and her teammates researched local opportunities to build strong community ties. Now, she goes “every month to either a dance or cooking or baking class and spends her time in community involvement.”  

Srushti goes above and beyond to make sure the people she supports are active participants in the community. She bridges the communication gap, allowing them to experience enriching opportunities that the individuals supported are passionate about.
