Our specialized support team includes Direct Support Professionals, Communication Support Professionals, and Certified Deafblind Intervenor Specialists. Their work is vital – empowering people supported through personalized communication, fostering independence, and building meaningful connections. Specialized Training

DeafBlind Ontario Services strives to be a top employer in the specialized sensory loss field by investing in employees through extensive training, mentoring, and professional development across all levels. In the Pursuit of Excellence, our team receives advanced specialized training to deepen their understanding of sensory loss, including related conditions, communication methods, environmental adaptations, and sensory complexities. This commitment ensures high-quality services and empowers our employees to lead with confidence and skill.

  • TOUCH

    TOUCH™ (Training, Ongoing, Unique, Committed, Holistic) is a specialized professional development course that deepens understanding of sensory loss, related conditions, communication methods, adaptations, and environmental factors.

  • Certified Deafblind Intervenor Specialist

    Certified Deafblind Intervenor Specialists (CDBIS) are highly trained professionals supporting individuals with deafblindness or dual sensory loss. Certification is validated by ACVREP through a rigorous exam.

  • American Sign Language (ASL)

    ASL training is mandatory for our Specialized Training Team, reinforcing our Enriched Communication Approach and commitment to language access, inclusion, and quality support.

  • Other Mandatory Training

    Additional training ensures professional standards and safe, high-quality services for the people we support. This includes Medication Administration, Behavioural Supports, and Lifts & Transfers.
