Deafblind Ontario Services Blog
We have received responses from the NDP and Liberal party leaders in response to a letter that was sent by our board chair, Barbara Hooton, and chair of our Government Relations committee, Brian Watkinson that outlined our primary and secondary issues. So far, we have not received a response from the PC party leader.
With the Provincial Election upon us in less than 2 weeks, we hope our readers will educate themselves on each of the party platforms before casting their vote on June 12th. How non-profits fare in the election is in the hands of the voters.
Continuing with our Provincial Election campaign, we are posting our third of three issues we are presenting to all candidates running in the provincial election. The first (primary issue) was the subject of our May 13th blog post, and the second was the subject of our May 20th post.
Secondary Issue #2 - Potential Public Sector Wage Freeze
Continuing with our Provincial Election advocacy, we are posting our second of three issues we are presenting to all candidates running in the provincial election. The first (primary issue) was the subject of our May 13th blog post (see below). More details will follow next week on our second of two secondary issues.
Secondary Issue #1 - Increase Ontario Disability Support Program levels
As we embark on another Provincial Election, we are asking our supporters to send a postcard outlining our issues we'd like all candidates to address in their election platforms. One of these issues is outlined below. More detail on our secondary issues will follow next week. If you would like postcards send to you so you can forward them to your candidates in your riding, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
PRIMARY ISSUE: To ensure future funding models and policy framework for Intervenor Services takes the unique and complex needs of the deafblind into account
